Frontend Developer



Plant-for-the-Planet is a youth-led non-profit organization with a vision to plant a Trillion Trees. We are a collective of young climate justice ambassadors, environmental scientists, designers, and developers – spread across 5 continents – who work together to bring solutions to solve the climate crisis.

We are seeking a skilled Frontend Developer with strong experience in React, Node.js, and Next.js. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset and the technical expertise to develop responsive web applications for both mobile and desktop platforms. Familiarity with Node.js and an understanding of full-stack development will be a significant advantage.

Location: Mumbai & Vicinity (India)

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy responsive + scalable web applications using React, Next.js, and Node.js.
  • Collaborate with UX Designers, Architects, and Backend Developers to implement comprehensive web solutions.
  • Ensure code quality and maintainability by following software development best practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development process and product quality.
  • Create solutions to unite Tree Planting Projects around the World

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Good written and verbal communication in English, proactive in clarifying tasks and providing updates  about progress/blockers
  • 2+ years of experience developing software applications
  • Strong basics in the building blocks of web development (HTML, CSS, Javascript) with an ability to write clean readable code, and create responsive UI
  • Demonstrated experience with ReactJS
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs
  • Understanding of document description languages such as JSON
  • Working knowledge of Git Flow
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Additional Relevant Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with Node.js for building scalable web services – is a plus.
  • Familiarity with GIS and map integrations is a plus.
  • Experience with payment processors such as Stripe or PayPal.
  • Experience with TypeScript, Storybook, and documenting code is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
