Job Mission:
The Project Officer will oversee all field activities for the Plant-for-Ghana project from design through implementation and monitoring. The Project Officer will work with all project partners at the community and landscape levels to ensure the successful implementation of all restoration activities.
The position includes the following responsibilities:
• Coordinate the project field team and facilitate program implementation
• Conduct all field-level activities and report to the project manager
• Coordinate with project partners and local stakeholders including local communities and other local government structures to implement project activities
• Support and facilitate the work of the Restoration Expert regarding the project activities
• Organize training for the project field team
• Prepare work schedules for field workers and nursery workers
• Keep record of project activities and maintain evidence for all activities and prepare reports of activities
• Represent Plant-for-Ghana at meetings with relevant government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other agencies and personnel as may be directed
• Perform any other responsibilities that may be added from time to time
Minimum required qualifications, skills, and experience:
• BSc Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Agriculture, Restoration Ecology, or related fields
• 2+ years of work experience in forest management, landscape restoration, or associated fields
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate logistics of a large-scale field project and problem-solving
• Prior experience implementing forest or grassland restoration projects working with local communities
• Excellent communication and outreach skills
• 1+ years of practical experience in tree nursery management and field planting
• Experience using Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Ability to empathize and work closely with diverse cultures and stakeholders
• Ability to work within an international team, with colleagues from multiple countries and cultures (excellent spoken and written English will be necessary)
• Should be able to ride a motorbike and have a valid license
Remuneration is based on a local salary scheme, which follows the principle of local customs and appropriateness. The employment is based on the laws of Ghana. The appointment is limited to one year and renewal is based on performance evaluation.
